I am well aware of the origins of ch...Hello NYMOM. I am well aware of the origins of chivalry and never expressed any "confusion" as to them. The USA Constitution, for example, had the Bill of Rights as an "afterthought" yet they have now come to represent the basic principles of the document (at least for those products of the modern educational system that even know that much.) Your claim that chivalry was "NEVER about women or how men treated [you]" is a huge red-herring and contrary to the reality of your own writing. Just because something originated as one thing but morphed into something else and remained that way for centuries doesn't change the fact that you enjoyed chivalry and continue to use it ironically pretend that you "demanded" rights from men rather than were handed them like a free dinner.

If you think that western men pat themselves on the back too much, you are more than welcome to go to Saudi Arabia or even Africa and most of Asia and try to play the "I'll kick you and you can't hit me back because I'm a girl" game, "demand" rights and see how far it gets you.

Another thing I should clear up, while I'm at it, is your notion that men have to pay hundreds of dollars on dates to get sex. NYMOM, you're a bit too old to know what's going on with young people today. Even I'm getting up there but during my time, "hookups" were increasingly popular (ask around to some young people sometime to find out what that means). It's sad that men have to protect themselves with condoms lest women exploit bastard children to make him pay for her unwed mother lifestyle, but I think that kind of power on women's part is pathetic more than empowering. You may sneer that it's great women can get away with that kind of behavior but it's kind of like me bragging that men in non-western nations can beat up women who walk around without a veil. But then again, the feminists are courting those kind of men, so to speak, as voters and immigrants than guys like me. We'll see where that agenda gets them in a few decades or so like North Paris, France.

Let's go back to the root origins of chivalry for a moment and think about how we got there. Most of the time, even in war torn medieval Europe, people weren't at war. So civilian society applied the chivalrous codes of protecting the weak to women and children. Women today, even six figure earning career women, still regard themselves either as "weak" and in need of the patriarchal breadwinner protector _or_ as goodie grabbing golddiggers. Basically, either hypocrites or whores. Don Quixote wrote of the way men were driven mad by the romance of war and honorable combat in times of peace and elevating the town whore into a princess.

You can continue to either deny the benefits women have enjoyed under chivalry or even make the ludicrous claim that they were oppressive but that doesn't change the fact that you're appealing to it even now for us men to buy into it. Consider your argument that us men are whining and complaining about the modern situation. It's basically a shaming ploy for us to "man up" and be the strong, silent type and take care of you. On the other hand, the "accomplishments" of feminism, if we can call them that, are just that: whining and griping for western men to please them and apologize for not treating them as equals while holding their hand.

It's all an illusion. Hmmm, it just occured to me how in modern times we have politicians beliving that we're going to power our entire society by windmills. Miguel de Cervantes would be having a ball right now but so would George Orwell.PolishKnighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16740194441387995674noreply@blogger.com
